5 Things to do in Nuneaton and Nearby This Summer

The sun is peeking through and summer is very nearly here so we’ve put together a handy list of things to do and see in Nuneaton and nearby. And don’t forget, after a busy day enjoying local events, be sure to pop by Pete’s for freshly cooked fish, chips and more for a perfect end to a sunny day out.

Nuneaton Carnival

If you’ve never been before, don’t miss out on the fun! The carnival is in its 86th year in 2016, and proceeds from the day go to various local charities with thousands being raised every year. The gala, which includes charity stalls, donkey rides and a funfair, usually begins at noon with a parade from Caldwell Rd. Pop by and see the colourful floats, marching bands and fancy dress walkers, as well as the Carnival Queen!

For more information, visit the Nuneaton Carnival website where you can also download the procession application form if you want to join in!

Warwick Court Leet Beer, Cider and Music Festival

Another event that is great fun, and raises money for local charities at the same time, is the Warwick Court Leet Beer, Cider and Music Festival. Mark the weekend of 15th and 16th July in your diaries, and get down to Warwick Racecourse to enjoy the huge choice of  locally-sourced ciders and real ales along with live music and food.

For more information on this event and how to purchase tickets, see their website.

The Warwick Thai Festival

Warwick Racecourse is also host to another fun event later in the summer: the Warwick Thai Festival. With over 40 food and craft stalls planned, you’ll enjoy a wonderful day filled with Thai dancing, music, massage, boxing, puppet shows and so much more!

For more details, dates and times, take a look on the Enjoy Warwick website.

Explore Southern Asia

Continuing the cultural theme, why not experience the beauty of Southern Asia at Mela Coventry? Between 12-13 August 2016, the Ricoh Arena will be transformed to showcase South Asian life. Visitors can enjoy a Bhangra night concert, Bhangra dance classes, fashion shows and street food. Those familiar with Bhangra music will recognise music legends such as Miss Pooja, Malkit Singh MBE and Sukshinder Shinda who will be performing on the 13th August.

Go to the Ricoh Arena’s online ticket office to book the Mela Coventry event you’d like to attend.

Coventry Godiva Festival

Summer just isn’t summer without a visit to the Coventry Godiva Festival and even better, it’s free to get in! All you need to do is choose your date – it’s on between Friday 1st July and Sunday 3rd July – and turn up! The Boomtown Rats are there on Friday, The Charlatans on Saturday and Scouting for Girls are headlining on Sunday, which means there’s three whole days of impressive music. You’ll also find craft, food stalls, music tents, a vintage market area and a bungee for thrill seekers.

Take a look at the Coventry Godiva Festival website for everything you’ll need to know.

These events sound great, don’t they? Pick your favourite and book on now and don’t forget, come see us too so you can tell us all about it and enjoy your favourite Pete’s dish.

Enjoy your summer!
